The practice of advance clocks by one hour to prolong evening sunshine during warmer months is known as daylight saving time, or DST. The United States will switch back to standard time on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after starting DST on Sunday, March 9, at 2 a.m. DST begins on March 30 and concludes on October 26 throughout Europe.
History and Significance
DST was first implemented in 1918 during World War I, but farmers’ resistance led to its revocation in 1919. Following its reintroduction during World War II, the Uniform Time Act of 1966 standardized it.
The DST Initiative by Kroger
Kroger is providing complimentary Hour Back Boxes including morning necessities like coffee concentrate, oat milk creamer, and frozen sandwiches to facilitate the shift. For a brief while, customers can also claim free breakfast products.
