Your eyes are too small and you dream of big eyes? Don’t worry, simple makeup techniques exist to enlarge your eyes. Stars like Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, and Kim Kardashian use and abuse them so why not us?
10 secrets for day and evening makeup to enlarge the eyes and make the look bright and glamorous.
How to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger with Mascara? – (10 Easy Tips)
TIP 1: Perfectly shaped eyebrows to open and rejuvenate the eyes
Eyebrows that are too thick, too bushy, or too thin should be avoided for small eyes.
You need to “open up” your eyes with a well-defined eyebrow line which, in addition to giving the illusion of a younger look, will give the illusion of larger eyes.
For perfect eyebrows, consult the Beauty sheet: Successfully plucking and applying makeup to your eyebrows (in drawings).
TIP 2: Correct dark circles and even out the eyelids to “open up” the eyes
Makeup to enlarge small eyes Apply your concealer by lightly tapping on the colored area of the dark circles (see How to apply your concealer). Concealing dark circles is essential (especially when they are dark), as they darken the eyes and make them look smaller.
Apply an eye shadow base from the mobile eyelid to the eyebrows. This base not only sets the eye shadow for the entire day without it running into the creases of the lid, but it also brightens the lid and opens up the eyes.
Note: If you don’t have an eye shadow base, apply your concealer instead. But if your eyeshadow tends to smudge, invest in an eyeshadow base, and you won’t regret it!
You can find them at very affordable prices (for example, the brands: Kiko, Essence, and elf)
TIP 3: How to apply and choose eyeshadows in order to enlarge and stretch your eyes
Always opt for pearly or iridescent eyeshadows, which are the best for small eyes.
(1) Apply a light pearlescent or iridescent eye shadow (beige, pinkish beige, sandy, golden beige) on the mobile lid to illuminate and open the eyes.
(2) Apply a significantly darker shade of eye shadow (brown, purple, copper) from mid-eye level, starting at the crease and working outward. Add a touch of the same eye shadow to the outer corner of the mobile eyelid
(3), always stretching outward.
If you have little or no dark circles, or if you’ve hidden them well, apply a light eye shadow under the first half of the eye
(4) and a dark eye shadow under the second half
(5), your eyes will look even bigger (a technique used by Jessica Alba).
Sweep a fluffy brush over and under the lids to “blend” the eyeshadow.
TIP 4: Line with dark eyeliner or kohl pencil
Enlarge small eyes On the eyelid, draw a line of kohl pencil or eyeliner in a dark color (black, dark gray, navy blue, dark purple, etc.) at the base of the lashes. The line is very thin at the beginning of the lash line and then gradually thickens.
To enlarge the eye and give it a nice almond shape, draw what are called “wings”. See Beauty tip: How to draw your eyeliner line.
Extra Advice: For those who have trouble with eyeliner (and there are many!), opt for a line of kohl pencils instead, which you can blend by gently tapping with a cotton swab. The eyeliner line requires some dexterity and more practice.

TIP 5: Draw a line of the white or beige pencil inside the eye
To enlarge eyes that are too small, one trick is to draw a line of white or flesh-colored pencils for fair skin tones and beige for dull skin tones inside the eye.
TIP 6: Line the lower lashes with a dark kohl pencil
On the underside of the eye, draw a dark kohl pencil line (black, dark gray, navy blue, dark purple, etc.) along the lower lash line, but only on the outer half of the eye so as not to “close” the eye.
The line is thin and then thickens as it stretches outward. To “blur” the kohl pencil line, gently tap it with a cotton swab.
TIP 7: The “radiance touch” to open and glamorize the eyes
How to make small eyes look bigger and more glamorous – The “glow touch” really makes a difference! Apply a touch of pearly white eyeshadow for fair skin tones or pearly beige for matte skin tones under the eyebrows and in the inner corners of your eyes. Glam’ effect guaranteed!
Extra Tip: You can also invest in a brightener (also called a glowing touch or light touch). In pen form, they are very easy to apply.
TIP 8: Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler before applying your mascara
Before applying your mascara, curl your lashes with an eyelash curler for 10 seconds. The lashes thus hemmed give the impression of “wide open” eyes, therefore larger. For those who don’t know, simply pinch your lashes in this tweezer (which is a little scary at first but doesn’t hurt at all!) for a few seconds and you’re done!
Apply your mascara generously to your upper lashes, and more lightly, using the tip of your mascara brush, to your lower lashes.
Use the lash brush to avoid “clumping”. (if you don’t have an eyelash brush, use an old mascara that you have washed well)
That’s all for daytime makeup for small eyes. For party or evening makeup, continue with the following two steps that will enlarge the eyes while making them look glamorous.
TIP 9: Draw a thin line of liquid glitter liner under the eye
Draw a thin line of silver or gold glitter liquid eyeliner along the bottom lash line
(1) or under the previously drawn kohl pencil line
(2) Again, the light effect gives the illusion of bigger eyes (Glitter Eyeliner Kiko).
In addition to enlarging the eyes, this technique (2) used in Lebanese makeup is of the most beautiful effect!
TIP 10: At night, dare to use false eyelashes!
To apply your false eyelash fringe, consult the Beauty sheet: How to apply false eyelashes.
A simpler solution for beginners is to apply just a small “clump” of false eyelashes at the end of the lashes.
They are sold in packs of small “clumps” of false lashes (I know the term “clump” is not the most graceful, but I found nothing better 😉 )
