Best Lightweight Laptop For Business/Work
Whether it’s a classic ultraportable Laptop or hybrids, these computers are light, stylish, powerful, and able to last a good day on battery power. Here are the top five editors tested …
They are the kings of mobile computing. Ultraportables, sometimes called ultrabooks for the lightest, are compact, lightweight machines with great battery life.
Despite their small size, these laptops often offer a very good level of performance for common tasks. And many models, equipped with a touch screen, can be used with the keyboard as well as with the fingers or a stylus.
It remains to choose the right model among the many machines available from almost all manufacturers, knowing that the prices are a big difference, from a few hundred to … several thousand euros. To help you, here is our ranking of the five best ultraportables tested by our laboratory in recent months, according to rigorous criteria. Design, equipment, performance, autonomy, and ease of use, everything is noted!
Unsurprisingly, this top 5 brings together rather high-end machines, therefore quite expensive: from 1000 euros to more than 2000 euros. In December, we see the arrival of the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with ARM processor from Apple and the latest version of the Dell XPS 13. We tested them and they change – a lot – the ranking.
The ranges of the best lightweight laptop for business are beginning to be renewed little by little because the brands manage to provision their stock despite the crisis and, above all, that all the machines equipped with the latest 11th generation Intel Core processors are finally arriving in waves.
Twelfth, the Honor MagicBook is no longer among the 10 best ultraportables of the moment but remains a solid machine for those who want a well-finished and inexpensive 14-inch Laptop. It is recalled, in passing, that it is the carbon copy of Huawei’s Matebook D 14 2020.
Huawei, moreover, occupies 11th and 19th place in our current ranking with the expensive MateBook Pro X and the more affordable MateBook 13.

One of the last ultraportables passed through our hands, the Asus VivoBook S14 (S433FL) now sits in sixteenth place with a score of … 7.1 / 10. The competition is tough!
If our Top 5 is not enough for you or if you cannot find the computer of your dreams, head to our permanent comparison which includes all the references that we have tested and which are still on sale.
If it is endurance and nothing that matters, we offer you a ranking solely focused on this criterion. He too has been quite upset with the arrival of the new MacBooks. So much so that the HP Elite Dragonfly – a big leader in the standings – is being mistreated.
We give you – also and finally – all the leads to choose the model that will suit you best in our ultraportable buying guide.
Here Are the Top 5 Best Lightweight Laptop For Business/Work:
Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 (FHD)
The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 2019 Edition has to concede two spots in the leaderboard. It is always the version equipped with a Full HD + screen and not 4K that wins our votes. And this detail is important because the first image definition does much better for this champion than the second. Especially in terms of endurance. It is day and night between the two models which, however, have the same components. The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 2019-2020 Full HD + vintage is, therefore, the model to favor because, in addition to endurance, it has other very attractive assets up its sleeve.
Texan manufacturer migrated 2-in-1 XPS 13 to 11th generation Intel Core platforms. The model we had in our hands still exists on the site, they are probably the last models available so if you are interested: don’t hang around!

Apple MacBook Pro 13 inch M1
This is the first model of the new Apple Silicon chip MacBook Pro that we have had in our hands and it already ranks third on our podium. A real good alternative to its cousin based on Intel Core processor and which embodies the future – radiant – ultraportables lovingly crafted by Cupertino. In addition to its astonishing performance, its autonomy is formidable and these are just two of its countless advantages.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Ryzen 7
It is the first ultraportable PC with a recent AMD processor that integrates our Top 5. This Yoga Slim 7 is not a portable PC of type 2-in-1 unlike the machines which carried this name before; Lenovo thought that, even if it meant shaking up standards and imposing AMD in our ranking, we had to upset our little habits until the end. And we strongly encourage you to browse the test of this machine which has impressed us in more than one way.
It is found around 1000 euros quite frequently on the Web.

Dell XPS 13
The king of ultraportable Windows PCs returns in winter 2020, in a new version, equipped with the latest 11th generation Intel Core processors. And no real surprise: the XPS 13 is once again a hit. It even pays itself the luxury of chasing the old version (still available) and relaying it tied with the latest MacBook Pro. But it cannot win against the MacBook Air doped with the ARM M1 chip.
Endurance is again on the rise, the performance of Intel chips allows it to broaden its range of skills and its Full HD + screen manages to maintain a good level of quality, although some small drops here and there are however to note, especially in terms of colorimetry. The rest of the test is to be discovered below!

Apple MacBook Air M1
The best ultraportable is no longer the Dell XPS 13. After years of undisputed domination in this segment, Apple is now back in the lead. Cupertino wins the title thanks to its latest MacBook Air M1 which combines power, mobility, and endurance.
Like the first MacBook Air in its day, it embodies the new enemy to be defeated for the PC competition. It will not fail to deploy colossal efforts to dislodge Apple from the first place on our podium. We wish him much courage in this endeavor.
