Disney’s D23 Expo 2022 has begun. During the event, from September 9 to 11, 2022, the company revealed the date and the official title for the Captain Marvel movie sequel.

The D23 Expo 2022 started on September 9, 2022, and will end on September 11, 2022. Although Disney has many franchises, this event focuses more on the Marvel and Star Wars licenses.

The Marvels will be the sequel to the Captain Marvel movie (2019). The feature film will feature a team of three women with superpowers. Brie Larson will reprise her role as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. Alongside her will be Iman Vellani’s young Miss Marvel and Monica Rambeau (aka Photon in Wandavision) played by Teyonah Parris. Samuel L. Jackson will also be in the film as Nick Fury.
The plot of the film remains a mystery. Disney and Marvel Studios are keeping it a secret. Only the images of the trailer for the next phase offer a glimpse of the three women. The Marvels is reportedly in production and the announced release date is July 28, 2023.
Big announcements for Phase 5 and 6 of the MCU
Nick Fury’s involvement in The Marvels may indicate a connection to the upcoming Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn Secret Invasion series. Nothing is known at this time. In the meantime, Marvel Studios confirms its line-up for Phase 5 of the MCU.

Marvel Studios is announcing some heavy stuff for the next few years with Phase 5 of The Multiverse Saga.
