Thanks to the excellent anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix, CD Projekt RED’s latest title has experienced a sudden surge in popularity.
Admittedly, not as big as the misadventure-tinged hype of its launch. The Steam version of Cyberpunk 2077 has more than 80,000 players connected simultaneously, not to mention other platforms such as GOG or the console versions.

After The Witcher 3, Netflix relaunches Cyberpunk 2077
Released exactly one week ago, the Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, made by the Japanese studio Gunner, has been a real hit, both critically and in terms of audience. In such a short time, it even managed to reach the highest audience scores on the SVoD platform.
Like yours truly at Clubic, many gamers who were carried away by this anime with its various qualities did not get a sufficient dose of Cyberpunk 2077 and went back to Night City, or even started the adventure for the first time.

It must be said that CD Projekt RED’s title has come a long way since its release in December 2020. After many updates to correct the numerous bugs it was riddled with and add content to live up to the Polish studio’s ambitions, Cyberpunk 2077 is in better shape than ever, while waiting for an expansion planned for 2023, on PC and exclusively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

There is with this anime with an air of déjà vu for a Netflix production. Indeed, in 2019, The Witcher series offered a boost in popularity to the masterpiece that is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt beat the craze for it when it was released in 2015.
