How to open Task Manager Using the keyboard shortcut
This is the easiest way to open Task Manager in Windows 10 and 11. To open Task Manager with the hotkey:
- Simultaneously press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys.
There is another way to open it which also uses a keyboard shortcut. This keyboard shortcut is actually more popular but has an extra step.
- Simultaneously press the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys.
- Click on Task Manager.
Windows 10 and 11 look different for the screen with the Task Manager button, but both work the same.
How to open Task Manager Using Windows Search Shortcut or Taskbar
Windows Search also lets you, open Task Manager. It’s a simple process.
- Open Windows Search.
- Type Task Manager in the search box.
- Click on the first result, titled Task Manager.
There’s another shortcut you can access nearby, and this one’s great if your keyboard isn’t working.
- Right-click on the taskbar.
- Click on Task Manager.
That’s it. These are all the ways to open Task Manager in Windows. Some older versions of Windows 10 may also allow you to open it through the System menu in Control Panel. You can also run it by pressing Windows + R, typing taskmgr
and pressing Enter.

How to open Task Manager on Mac? (Activity Monitor)
- Click on the magnifying glass ( spotlight ) at your screen’s top right.
- Type Monitor.
- Click Activity Monitor.
Tip: If you don’t want to use Spotlight, you can open your Mac’s Task Manager using the Launchpad icon in your Dock. In the list of applications, open the Other folder and see the Activity Monitor icon.
Tip: You can also find Activity Monitor via Finder then Applications, then Utilities.
By default, there is no keyboard shortcut to bring up the Task Manager on a Mac.

How to open Task manager on Chromebook?
To open the Task manager, open Google Chrome. Click the three-dot menu button at the top right. Navigate to the More tools label, and hover the cursor over it. A drop-left menu will appear. Click Task manager in that menu.
Alternatively, you can press the Search + Esc keyboard shortcut. You don’t have to open Google Chrome if you’re using the keyboard shortcut.
